FAQs

Does amber or red light actually help you fall asleep faster?

Light exposure affects sleep primarily through its color, not just its brightness. Blue and green wavelengths are the strongest suppressors of melatonin, the hormone that signals your body it's time to sleep, so even dim blue-heavy light in the evening can delay that signal. Red and amber wavelengths have a far smaller effect on melatonin production, which is why they're commonly recommended for the hour or two before bed. This lamp is built around that idea: instead of just dimming a normal light, it removes the wavelengths that interfere with sleep in the first place. As with any general wellness approach, results vary from person to person.

What's the difference between the Yellow, Orange, and Red settings?

Yellow is the brightest and warmest of the three, good for early evening use while you're still active around the house. Orange sits in between, a softer, dimmer transitional glow as you start winding down. Red is the most restrictive setting, with zero blue and zero green light, designed for the last hour before bed or for middle-of-the-night use when you want enough light to see without fully waking yourself up.

Is this lamp really 100% free of blue and green light?

The Red setting is engineered to contain no blue or green wavelengths at all — it's pure red light. The Yellow and Orange settings are warm, blue-and-green-minimized tones designed for earlier in the evening, when a small amount of light exposure is less disruptive than it is right before bed.

How do I use the panel?

Position the panel at eye or desk level, roughly arm's length away. It defaults to Full Spectrum Mode (all 40 LEDs — full-spectrum and red/NIR together); flip the RED switch for Night Mode (just the 20 red/NIR LEDs). Choose a brightness level (10%, 25%, 50%, 75%, or 100%), and set the built-in timer for anywhere from 1 to 30 minutes per session. No setup beyond plugging it in and choosing your settings.

How long and how often should I use it?

There's no single "correct" dose, and we don't make specific medical claims about session length.
